    Dr Oluwaseun Ajayi

    PhD ANIVS SFHEA

    Senior Lecturer

I am a Senior Lecturer in Real Estate with a global research, teaching, and leadership portfolio spanning the United Kingdom, South Africa, Germany, and Nigeria. My expertise lies at the intersection of real estate finance, climate-risk modelling, valuation technologies, and PropTech innovation, integrating advanced econometrics, machine learning, and behavioural finance to address contemporary challenges facing built environment markets. My academic trajectory, supported by over $750,000 in competitive international grants and scholarships reflects a sustained commitment to high-impact, industry-relevant scholarship. As Principal Investigator of the prestigious Investment Property Forum (IPF) Climate Risk Grant, I lead a landmark study examining climate-risk integration within UK real estate investment strategies, focusing on the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan and delivering manuscripts targeting top-tier journals such as JREFE, JPM, Land Use Policy, and Urban Studies.

My technical expertise encompasses climate-adjusted valuation, REIT analytics, portfolio optimisation, hedonic modelling, GARCH-MIDAS frameworks, causal inference, and spatial-temporal capital flows. My research has appeared in high-quality journals including Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of Property Investment & Finance, International Real Estate Review, Real Estate Management & Valuation, and Risk and Financial Management. I am also Guest Editor for Springer and MDPI special issues on sustainability, innovation, PropTech, and the future of real estate practice. Pedagogically, I specialise in valuation, real estate investment and finance, urban infrastructure economics, and quantitative methods, delivering modules across undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the UK, South Africa, Germany, and Nigeria. My teaching approach integrates digital tools (Argus Developer, VR feasibility, Stata, R, GIS, Panopto, Blackboard/Moodle) to bridge theoretical learning with industry practice.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Advance HE and have designed and delivered over 25 modules globally and supervised more than 70 of MSc, MBA, and undergraduate dissertations with consistently excellent student outcomes. My academic leadership experience includes serving as Programme Lead (Head of Real Estate) at London Metropolitan University, where I pioneered and managed curriculum development, accreditation (RICS-aligned), academic integrity processes, research strategy, and industry partnerships. I currently serve as External Examiner at the University of Johannesburg and Co-Editor of the International Real Estate Society Newsletter, reinforcing my continental and international scholarly engagement. Across research, teaching, leadership, and service, my overarching expertise is in advancing a data-driven, climate-resilient, technologically enhanced real estate discipline that prepares future professionals for the emerging demands of global property markets.
