Students shine in bids for competitive scholarships

    12 June 2025

It’s well documented that Harper Adams students can compete for a vast range of scholarships exclusive to the University.

But perhaps less well known is how successful our students have been in securing external awards – competing against students at other institutions to secure prestigious scholarships and bursaries to support their studies.

Of particular note are the three agriculture students who have brought the Spence Agricultural Scholarship to the University for the first time.

Archie Harrison, studying BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Crop Production Science, Rebecca Goulding, studying BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Livestock Production Science and Connor Jackson, studying BSc (Hons) Agriculture will each receive £5,000 for each year of their four- year long courses from the Rochester Bridge Trust, thanks to the Spence Agricultural Scholarship.

for prospective students who wish to follow in their footsteps.

In late 2024, the panel managing the John Innes Foundation Bursary found themselves struggling to choose between two Harper Adams’ students when seeking to award a bursary that would cover the entirety of one candidate’s course fees, as well as access to expert mentoring, work experience and placement year opportunities.

In the end,  BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Crop Production Science student Daisy Readman won the complete package. But fellow student Archie Harrison so impressed the judges that he, too, was given access to the mentorship and experience part of the award.
